The following are personal photographs of my world:

 julynewslettera.jpg picture by witch_of_endore

This photo is the view from my bedroom window,
shot through the black window screen.  It was such
a beautiful scene in real life that I wanted to capture
and keep it.  That's Pyewacket sitting so serenely by the
gently flowing 'stream', which is usually the dry grass
ditch in front of our house.

 Mistress Pixie Paws...a Victorian cat.

julynewsletterc.jpg picture by witch_of_endore

Salem, surrounded by a deck of my tarot cards, the epitome
of the witch's cat, the witch's familiar...my shadow,
my guardian, and my companion.

julynewsletterd.jpg picture by witch_of_endore

Earlier this summer...I walked into the darkened livingroom
one evening to see a glow of flames lighting up the windows.
It was my husband burning leaves in the driveway.  It made
quite a sight and earned him the title:  "Keeper of the Flame".

julynewslettere.jpg picture by witch_of_endore

My clematis, growing like crazy all over the old metal trellis.  I didn't
waste any time taking this photo-- the mosquitoes chased me off.

julynewsletterh.jpg picture by witch_of_endore

I was sitting beneath our large maple tree in the backyard, looking
up through its branches-- another image I wanted to save.

julynewsletterg.jpg picture by witch_of_endore

Miss Cletus sought out my lap as a tiny chick, and she will still
come to sit in my lap today.  As a matter of fact, it's difficult to
keep her off!

julynewsletterf-1.jpg picture by witch_of_endore

This is my front lawn, the photo taken through the early
morning rays of the sun shining through the tree.  We
let the clover patch grow this year-- and I love it!  Hubby
mows around it, making a large design in the process.

A Random Reading

This month I'm going to do an anonymous random "mini-reading".  I'm going to pull three cards and interpret them, letting the universe take me where it will and reveal what comes.  This information is meant for someone out there, and when they read it, they'll know who they are:

The Moon (R)   8/cups (R)   3/pentacles

This situation involves the work place, the fact that someone is at best not being totally truthful and at worst deliberately spreading lies, and it also points to the fact that this behavior will either eventually force you to leave your job or cause you to be fired unless action is taken.

The most important point is to discover the identity of this co-worker.  This may be someone with borderline personality disorders, a terrific case of egotistical aggression-- the "I'll get ahead at whatever the price" mentality-- and someone who is two-faced.  They have a tendency of planting seeds of discord around the workplace and this is probably not the first time they've been up to this type of behavior.  Is there someone you know in your workplace with this reputation?  If so, don't turn your back on them.

Someone is leaving-- and if it's not you, it's the troublemaker.  If enough employees-- aka victims-- of this individual get together and come forward, the trail of lies, backstabbing and two-faced behavior will be exposed.  Then it will be up to the disgression and integrity of your employer to take action.

I get a strong sense of unity where your fellow employees are concerned.  I have a feeling that everyone has had enough and the situation is going to come to a head...There's power in numbers, remember that.

Enchanted Jewelry

Brown Agate

Hathor's Myrrh Healing Spell

1agatering1.jpg picture by witch_of_endore

Agates come in a multitude of colors, each of which retains its own magickal connections and energy.  Brown agates were worn by warriors for victory in battles, used in modern times for business success in any undertaking, and was once used to guard against the evil eye, disease, bad luck, etc.  It is also worn as a talisman for prosperity.

This agate's energy is projective (male), its element is Fire, planet-- Mercury (generally speaking, for agates), and its magicakal energies include strength, courage, longevity, gardening, love, healing, and protection.

To this beautiful piece I've added Hathor's Myrrh Healing Spell to intensify the healing energy of this stone.  Hathor, the mother of Horus, was revered in ancient Egypt as the goddess of love, motherhood, joy, music, dance; and also as the goddess who helped women in childbirth.

Among other titles, Hathor was called "The Lady of Myrrh".  Her temples were healing centers.  The enchantment placed upon this ring petitions Hathor directly for healing energy

A Spell to Attract Your Dream Home

Crystal Therapy

Since beginning this column, I've received many requests for specific information.  This month I'm going to begin by listing some crystal prescriptions for specific maladies-- this information and *much* more can be found in Judy Hall's book, "Crystal Prescriptions", and you'll find a link to this book at the bottom of this page.  Next, I'm going to randomly choose a  stone listed and take a closer look at its properties.  If any of these prescriptions require creating a crystal tincture, you'll find a link at the bottom of this section to that information as well.  Remember, this information is *Not* to be used in lieu of seeking proper medical attention!

 Blue Lace Agate

stonebluelaceagate.jpg stone blue lace agate picture by witch_of_endore

Source:  USA, India, Morocco, Czech Republic,
Brazil, Africa
Chakra:  Throat, third eye, heart, crown
Zodiac Sign:  Gemini, Pisces
Planet:  Mercury

Beneficial for:  Nurturing, shoulder and neck problems caused by blocked self-expression, thyroid deficiencies, throat and lymph infections, anger based infection, inflammation, fever, blockages of nervous system, arthritic and bone deformity, skeletal system, fractures, capillaries, pancreas, emotional trauma, self-confidence, concentration, perception, analytical abilities, aura stabilization, negative-energy transformaton, emotional disease, digestive process, gastritis, eyes, stomach, uterus, pancreas, blood vessels, skin disorders.  As an elixir:  brain fluid imbalances and hydrocephalus.

An excellent stone for starting over, the gentle energy of Blue Lace Agate instills peace of mind.  In addition to carrying the generic properties of Agate, this stone opens the way to higher energies and facilitates expresssion of spiritual and personal truth.  Fear of being judged often leads to nonexpression of feelings, and Blue Lace Agate coungteracts fear of rejection.  Blocked self-expression settles in the throat chakra and may induce a feeling of suffocation.  blue lace Agate gently dissovles the old pattern and counteracts mental stress.  It helps men accept their sensitive, feeling nature.  The peaceful energies exuded from this stone neutralize feelings of anger.  Focusing and directing sound to the appropriate place, Blue Lace Agate enhances sound healing.

Stones Icon 2 Pictures, Images and Photos

"In general, crystals and stones used for healing are used in a variety of ways…They are worn on the body as pendents, rings, etc.; carried on the person in pockets, mojo bags, and such; used as healing pendulums suspended above the affected areas; placed directly on the affected body part or placed on the appropriate chakra; and sometimes they are used to create healing tinctures that are taken internally, applied to affected body areas, or sprayed around a space..."

Herbs of the Month

HERBALPICTURES.jpg picture by witch_of_endore

This month I'm going to list three herbs that have one very big thing in common-- they all share the same planetary ruler:  Jupiter.

Jupiter is associated with expansion and with "Thursday"--the day to traditionally cast spells dealing with money, finances, and legal issues.  You'll find that these herbs, though sharing a planetary ruler, have many and varied magical uses.

dividerflower3.gif divider flower 3 picture by witch_of_endore

Anise

Gender:  Masculine
Element:  Air
Powers:  Protection, purification, youth

Magical Uses:

Fill a small pillowcase with anise seeds and sleep on it.  This will ensure that you have no nightmares.  Use in protection and meditation incenses.  Fresh anise leaves placed in a room will drive off evil, and they are sometimes placed around the magic circle to protect the magiacian from evil spirits.  It also averts the evil eye.

Anise seed is also used in purification baths, especially with bay leaves.  It is used to call forth spirits to aid in magical operations, and a sprig hung on the bedpost will restore lost youth.

 dividerflower3.gif divider flower 3 picture by witch_of_endore

 Cinquefoil

Gender:  Masculine
Element:  Fire
Powers:  Money, protection, prophetic dreams, sleep

Magical uses:

The five points of the leaves represent love, money, health, power and wisdom, and so if carried cinquefoil grants these.

It is also hung up at the door, or placed on the bed, for protection.  An infusion of the leaves is used to bathe the forehead and hands, nine times, to wash away hexes and curses.

If you find a cinquefoil sprig with seven leaflets, place it under your pillow.  You will dream of your future lover or mate.  if a bag of cinquefoil is suspended from the bed you will have a restful sleep all night.

Carried, cinquefoil gives eloquence when asking for favors of officials, and usually ensures that the favor is granted. It is thus used in court cases.

Cinquefoil is also added to purificatory bath sachets.

dividerflower3.gif divider flower 3 picture by witch_of_endore

Witch Grass

Gender:  Masculine
Powers:  Happiness, lust, love, exorcism

Magical uses:

Witch grass carried or sprinkled under the bed attracts new lovers.  Witch grass is also used in all manner of unhexing and uncrossing rituals; the infusion is sprinkled around the premises to disperse entities, and when worn it dispels depression.

Spell of the Month

witch2.jpg picture by witch_of_endore

 Goodwife's Tisane Spell

(For General Good Health)

 Purpose:

To engender good health and to indicate where health problems are likely to come from.

Background:

For centuries, wisewomen'e brews have bestowed cures and general good health.  The brews are assembled from herbal and magical knowledge and are health-giving physically as well as spiritually.  But teas-- for this is what a 'tisane' is-- also have a reputation as divinatory tools, through the dregs, or leaves, that are left after they have been drunk.  This spell combines the two functions in order to bestow good health and provide an early warning system of where health may be compromised in the future.

There is an entire science to go with tea leaf readings, and there is very little space here to explore all of the traditional meanings of all the shapes you are likely to encounter at the bottom of your cup.  However, it is possible to give a few hints that will aid you if this the first time you have 'read' the tea leaves; the rest is up to you and your powers of intuition-- and of research, should you need it!  On the purely herbal front, you may be interested to know that the ingredients of this tisane provide plenty of vitamins, settle the digestion, and aid sleep-- all basic ingredients of general good health.

How to cast the spell:

You will need:

one pale blue candle, 6-8 1/2 inches...15-20 cm

matches or lighter

one large freshly chopped dandelion leaf

three dried chamomile flower heads, chopped

five large freshly chopped mint leaves

one teacup & saucer

boiling water

Timing:

Work on a waxing moon, and on a Monday, day of the Moon, to honor the wisdom of the wisewoman or cunning man within.

Casting the Spell:

1:  Cast a circle, if you are practiced at it and wish to work within a sacred space.

2:  Light the candle, saying:

"By sun, wind, and rain
I bless this tisane."

3:  Place the ingredients in the cup and pour on the boiling water, then place the saucer over the cup to keep the heat in.  While the tisane is brewing, chant the following:

"By the goodness in this brew
Sickness slay and life renew."

4:  Leave it for five minutes, then uncover it, and when it is cool enough, drink it.

5:  tip the residue onto the saucer.

6:  The following shapes indicate associated areas to look out for in the future:

Horseshoe or cup:  kidney or bladder

Animal:  thighs or hips

Facial Features:  the head

Lines & angles:  joints or arms/hands/legs/feet

Figure eight:  chest or sinuses

Waves:  stomach or bowels

Kitchen Wytchery

Elsie204.jpg kitchen witch 2 picture by witch_of_endore

As the Kitchen Witch knows, natural magick can be found in certain foods, recipes, as well as herbs.  In this section we're going to put this knowledge to work.

Witches-Kitchenbymagic_art.jpg icon kitchen witch picture by witch_of_endore

The fruit featured for this month is the pineapple:

Pineapple is a symbol of hospitality.  It is also a powerful protectant.  Combined with rum, its powers are doubled.  The following recipes are quite refeshing and are for adults only.  Because fresh pineapple can be difficult to prepare, there are two versions of the recipe included below:

Tipsy Pineapple
(This recipe is intended for adults only.)

Select a pineapple that can stand up by itself.  Slice off the top of the pineapple.  Using a long, sharp flexible knife, cut down and around the fruit inside the shell, about 1/4 inch from the sides.  Try to bend the knife when you reach the bottom.  If everything goes right, you should be able to lift out the entire inside of the pineapple, leaving the shell intact-- you might have to tug a bit.  Place the inside pineapple fruit on cutting board.  Cut sprears from the juicy fruit, removing the woody core.  Return the spears to the pineapple.  Pour enough of the rum over the fuit to cover.  Replace the top of the pineapple.  Place in the refrigerator overnight.  Serve the next day, chilled, as a refreshing money attractant.

Yield:  4 servings

Variation:
If you do not wish to cut a fresh pineapple, drain 2 cans pineapple chunks .  Place the chunks in a bowl.  Pour rum over the fruit to cover.  Tightly cover the bowl and refrigerate overnight.

Magical uses:  Protection, luck, and money

 dividerflower3.gif divider flower 3 picture by witch_of_endore

Flaming Love
(This recipe is intended for adults only.)

1 whole pineapple
(or 2 cans pineapple rings packed in juice)

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cups brown sugar

1/4 cup light rum

Preheat ove to 350 degress F.  If using a fresh pineapple, peel, core, and cut into half-inch rings.  Place a single layer of pinapple rings ina shallow baking pan.  dot tops with butter and sprinkle with brown sugar.  Place under the broiler until sugar and butter turn a light brown.  Gently heat the rum in a small ssaucepan during the broiling.  Remove the pineapple rinmgs from the broiler when done and transfer them to a chaffing dish (or other heat-proof container.)  Pour the heated rum over the top and ignite.  Serve immediately.

Yield:  4-6 servings

Magical uses:  protection, luck, and money
