Tarot
Below is an actual tarot reading
The Wheel of Fortune The Fool ® 2/pentacles King/swords ® It looks as though a change is coming, and it could be a change that turns things topsy turvy, at least for a while. (Note: spinning and cutting come to mind, weaving, as well as objects of a circular nature.) The Fool generally sees us on a journey, whether a physical journey, or something new which we’re beginning…a new path, which reinforces our first card. This man either has an angel on his shoulder, or he has someone behind him from whom he draws support. It also appears that with this change will come greater financial balance. Also, the idea of “killing two birds with one stone” and “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush”, comes to mind-- this seems strange, even to me. I don’t know if there is a literal connection somehow to birds, or these cliques will have something to do with your husband’s employment in a figurative way. The King of swords is a proud man who sometimes tends to take life too seriously. It would be to his benefit to look at the lighter side from time to time. Laughter reduces stress. (Note: I got the impression that this King needs some down time and that stress might be a factor in his future in some way.)
Temperance ® The Hermit 8/wands ® 8/pentacles This will be a child of balance, patience, and determination; someone with fortitude who doesn’t give up easily, but keeps plugging away until the desired goal is reached. This is also a solitary child, someone who isn’t afraid of being alone, but rather, gathers strength and maintains serenity by actively seeking ‘quiet time’. She (or he) will not act swiftly, will not in fact do much of anything quickly, but will have more of a slow and plodding nature about them.. They will certainly not be impulsive. Don’t become frustrated when you want something done quickly and it isn’t, ‘cause this child is going to do things in their own good time on their terms. This individual will know, from a very early age, what their lifework is, and may begin an apprenticeship/training in this field at a very early age, possibly in the late teens/early twenties. (Note: I don’t know where I get the ‘they’ from, but since it came on its own accord, I’ll leave it as is.)
The Chariot Princess/cups 3/cups Knight/cups First, is someone getting married? If the aren’t right now, they will be in the future. I felt, with the first group of cards that your husband’s change of employment would involve: 1) a move, 2) travel, 3) a long commute; and this concept is enforced here with The Chariot. Someone is going somewhere. The Knight of cups brings to mind the story of the frog and the princess, Sir Lancelot, and the idea of dark water, totally disconnected thoughts…this is what happens when you use the intuitive method of reading the cards. If any of this doesn’t make sense to you now, it probably will in the future. Also, autumn comes to mind, perhaps in relation to a time element for some of these events to play out. Actually, I feel that autumn is going to be very significant to you in some way. And I also feel as though water plays some significant role here as well-- this could be actual physical water; such as a lake, river, creek, pond, etc.; or it could involve the element of water; which includes such things as emotions, dreams, intuition, the west, the color blue, and Mondays. It looks as though everyone is going to have their hands full, when it rains, it pours, as the old saying goes.
The bond and connection between parent & child is the strongest of all human bonds. Remember this when you're doing readings, just as in this case-- when reading for one, you very likely will pick up the nuance of both.

It's all about Poppets this month. When you purchase them from my website, they are charged and ready to go-- all that's left is for you to add a 'personal' touch with a photo, a lock of hair, a signature, etc. But did you know that there is a ritual to 'breathe them to life'? Well there is, and I'm passing it on to you. It would be preferable to work this magic within a cast circle. Assemble those items that correspond to the four elements-- a bowl of water, a lit candle, an incense of your choice, and a bowl of salt. 1. Cast your circle & call the quarters. 2. Have your altar prepared, the color of your altar cloth, the herbs and stones present all corresponding to your intentions. 3. Upon this altar place the items belonging to the elements. 4. Take a few moments to ground yourself, to gather your energy, to fill your mind and this magical space with your intentions for this poppet. 5. Lay the doll upon the altar. For the element of Earth: Take a handful of salt and sprinkle it across the figure, saying, "I infuse you with Earth, that you feel physical touch." For the element of Air: Take the doll in your hands and hold it in the smoke of the incense, turning it, moving it, that it is consumed with the smoke, saying, "I infuse you with Air, that you think." For the element of Fire: Lay the doll upon the altar once more and hold the burning candle above it, saying, "I infuse you with Fire, that your passion be unquenchable and you feel the heat of my fury (or love, hate, etc.)" For the element of Water: Dip your right hand into the bowl of water and sprinkle the water upon the poppet as it lay on your altar, saying, "I infuse you with Water, that your emotions be overwhelming." 6. Leave the poppet lay on the altar. Take a deep breath and slowly lean over it, until you hover above it's mouth, your own lips almost touching it. Exhale now, allow your breath to escape from your body in one long warm draught of air. And this breath shall enter the poppet and give it life. 7. Open your circle, dismiss the quarters. Do with the poppet what you must, according to your intentions.

We celebrate Samhain at our house big time. I'm going to include in this newsletter my own recipe for pumpkin pie & my 'secret' recipe for the large pot of hot apple cider that is a tradition at our house. The photos included are family photos of Samhains past. My Pumpkin Pie: 1 16 oz. can pumpkin 1 13 oz. can evaporated milk 2 eggs the spices: Cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and a dash of salt. Most recipes call for 1/2 teaspoon each, but I'm much more generous with my spices! the crust: I tried for years to learn to make a good pie crust, and I almost gave up out of frustration-- then I found this recipe. It's almost foolproof, no kidding. 2 and 1/2 cups flour Mix the dry ingredients together and cut in the shortening, as usual. Then combine the egg and vinegar, stirring it up a bit, and add this to your dry ingredients. Add the water a dash at a time as you work it in, you'll be able to tell when you get a good texture.
Hot Apple Cider I have a *Huge*-- did I say huge?-- kettle that I use to mix up my cider. This sits and simmers all afternoon on the backburner of my stove, wafting a wonderful aroma throughout the house. Ingredients: 5-7 large jugs of applejuice You can leave a shaker of nutmeg sit on the counter & anyone who wants to add a dash of this spice to their mug of apple cider can do so. If you don't like this cider full force, you can dilute it some with water to suit your own taste.
Let's take a look at the ingredients we just used from a magickal perspective: Peaches-- love Nutmeg-- one of the most popular uses for nutmeg is to assure fidelity. It's also used for spells centered around luck, money, and health. Cinnamon-- spirituality, success, healing, power, psychic powers, lust, protection, love Allspice-- money, luck, healing Cloves-- protection, exorcism, love, money Apple-- love, healing, garden magic, immortality
Happy Samhain!! from Lady Amythyst |
